Corporate Chair Massage: What Actually Happens in 15 Minutes

Chair massage session in progress, therapist working on a seated client's shoulders

If you've never had a chair massage before, 15 minutes probably sounds too short to do anything. No oil, no table, still in your work clothes — how much can actually happen? More than you'd think.

What a session actually looks like

You sit forward in a portable massage chair, face resting in a cradle, arms resting on the padded rests in front of you. No undressing, no lying down, no real prep needed. From there, the session focuses on the areas that take the most abuse from a desk job — neck, shoulders, upper back, and sometimes forearms and hands if there's time.

I move through those areas with focused, firm pressure, working quickly but deliberately since there's no time to waste on a 15-minute window. Chair massage skips a lot of the setup that eats into table massage time — no changing, no getting settled, no working around linens. That means almost the entire 15 minutes is actual hands-on work.

Why it's one of the easiest perks you can actually offer

If you're an office manager or HR lead weighing wellness perks, chair massage has a few things going for it that a lot of other options don't:

It requires almost nothing from you logistically. I bring the chair, set up in a quiet corner or conference room, and run a rotating schedule so people can step out for their slot without disrupting the day. No one needs to leave the building, change clothes, or plan around it.

It's low-cost relative to almost any other wellness benefit, and it doesn't require an ongoing commitment — book it as a one-time morale boost, a recurring monthly perk, or anything in between.

It's something people actually use. Gym memberships and wellness apps sit unused. A 15-minute massage that comes directly to someone's desk day doesn't ask for willpower or planning — it just happens, and people show up for it.

It reads as care, not just a perk.

Bringing in a service that physically shows up and takes care of your team sends a different message than an email about a wellness stipend. People remember it, and it's the kind of thing that gets mentioned when people talk about why they like where they work.

What it's like for your team, day of

Most people come back to their desk noticeably looser through the shoulders and neck, and a little more able to settle back into focus for the rest of the afternoon. It's a small window of time that makes a real difference — and it's a lot easier to fit into a workday than most people expect.

Booking for your team

Sessions can be scheduled as a one-time event (great for an appreciation day or after a big push) or set up as a recurring perk on a weekly or monthly cadence. I can work around your team's schedule and space.
